Huai Su planted paper to study calligraphy

Huai Su loved Chinese calligraphy since childhood. His family was not rich enough to support his calligraphy practicing. So he planted a lot of Ba Jiao (one kind of banana with big leaves) at the east side of Ling Ling An, where he lived. He practiced calligraphy on the leaves, as a replacement of papers. But even the leaves were not enough to practice. He then painted a green wood plate to practice calligraphy on. He used water to write on the wood plate instead of ink. One plate was still not enough. He got a wood board. The wood plate and board was penetrated after years of practicing.

Because of his hard work, his calligraphy was evaluated as miraculous. Critics said his calligraphy feels like worrier sword out, expression moving.
