There's a story about the famous Tang dynasty calligrapher Ouyang, Xun. He saw a stele written by Suo, Jing, who is a famous West Jin dynasty calligrapher. First he stopped his horse (people travel on horse at that time) and watched. Then he got off the horse and watched. At the end he sit in front of the stele and watched and studied it for 3 days and nights.
