Stunning Chinese calligraphy: Tang poem

This is a perfect piece to decorate rooms. You can hang it on in a frame or without frame. It is original. Signed and sealed by the artiest.

It's about 27"x18". Done by Xuan Paper. This is the traditional paper for Chinese calligraphy. It's not rice paper as some people think it is. This paper is called Xuan paper because it's produced in Xuan City, An Hui province in China. There're some other place in China also produce this kind of paper but by the experience of calligraphers in more than 1000 years, it shows paper produced in Xuan City is the best. The reason is because the special kind of pine tree used in the process of production is best in Xuan City. The calligraphy can be kept thousands of years without changing the quality of the art. Today there're some calligraphy works from Tang dynasty, which is 1100 years ago, done on this kind of paper. The ink doesn't spread once it dries. Even if the art works falls into water, it does not hurt the calligraphy.

About the author: This is by a famous Tang dynasty poet: Du, Fu (712-770). He had great achievement at poem. He is one of the greatest poet in history.

Translation to English:

On top of the highest peak, all other peaks are small.

This is Du, Fu most famous word. It's taken from one of his poem <<Wang Yue>>. He wrote this poem when he traveled on Mountain Tai. The implied meaning of these words is when you have a great achievement over a certain thing, you will think all works are not so great! For instance, you think Pete Samprus is great tennis player because he won 14 majors. But if you win 20, you will think he is not so great. That's just an example.

About the artist: This is a calligraphy work by Lixin Wang. With a persistent love to this art, he practiced calligraphy for 20 years already. He is good at all scripts : Zhuan Shu, Li Shu, Cao Shu, Xing Shu and Kai Shu. He built a website "Wave Dancing Chinese Calligraphy" devoting to Chinese calligraphy. The website is still under construction but there're already a lot of articles and images of best calligraphy works in history. All articles on that website are written by Lixin Wang.

Chinese calligraphy is a necessity in China to decorate the rooms. Chinese calligraphy is a deep, serious art based on Chinese characters. It's the soul of Chinese culture. What kind of calligraphy is hung in a person's room is a reflection of the personality of the person. For example, if a person hang a mediocre calligraphy in a nice luxury frame, it just mean that person is somewhat not well educated, don't know how to appreciate calligraphy as an art. On the other hand, if a person have a real good piece of calligraphy with good literal content, than implies the person is well educated, knowledgeable and have a refined taste.
