Chinese calligraphy lesson 3 : More basic stoke

 

We are now practicing "Shu", the vertical stoke. There are two "shu" in the character.

Again, the center line is the trail of the tip of the brush. That's the movement of your hand also. Note the beginners tend to do two much at the beginning and ending of a stroke. You might try to move less as you intended.

After you get familiar with these strokes, you can go to Chinese calligraphy lesson 4.
