Chinese calligraphy works have served as a home and garden decoration idea for thousands of years. People use the art works to home and garden decorate rooms. There usually are some Chinese calligraphy works hang on the wall to home and garden decorate the homes.

A calligraphy work of "happy birthday" is likely to decorate a birthday party. If it's a birthday party for an old person, their usually some calligraphy about "longevity" will show up.

In Jin dynasty, carved tombstones was forbidden. So there are less Chinese calligraphy works in that period left although Jin dynasty is one of the glorious period in Chinese calligraphy.
